around the island

Welcome to Kauai

a lush, tropical landscape

Explore and Discover the Beauty of the Garden Isle

Kauai is home to some of the most beautiful beaches, friendly locals, scenic hiking trails, and stunning volcanic mountains you’ll find anywhere in the world. A quick drive around the island will leave you in awe of its lush, rainforest-covered valleys and hidden beaches with perfectly breaking waves. Let its quiet magic unfold, and you’ll understand why so many return to this island time and time again.

Na Pali Coast

The Na Pali Coast is truly a national treasure, showcasing untouched beauty with its jagged cliffs, secluded beaches, and vibrant green rainforest. Accessing the coastline by land is challenging — requiring an 11-mile trek along the Kalalau Trail — so to fully appreciate its breathtaking beauty, plan for a boat ride, sightseeing flight, or helicopter tour.

Waimea Canyon

Waimea Canyon, known as the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific,” is located in West Kauai and offers stunning views of red cliffsides surrounded by lush evergreen rainforest. Waterfalls and distant rivers cascade into the depths of the 3,600-foot-deep canyon. There are several lookout points along Koke’e Road, including Waimea Canyon and Puu Hinahina, or you can explore further by heading to Koke’e State Park for even more breathtaking vistas.

Hanalei Bay

Hanalei Bay, a crescent-shaped gem on Kaua‘i’s North Shore, is beloved for its gentle charm and breathtaking beauty. In winter, it becomes a haven for surfers drawn to its rolling swells, while summer brings calm, glassy waters ideal for swimming, paddleboarding, and lounging at the water’s edge. Backed by lush, waterfall-streaked mountains and lined with a wide stretch of soft sand, the bay offers a postcard-perfect setting for beach picnics, sunset strolls, and quiet moments of awe. On your way, stop at one of Hanalei’s local markets for fresh fruit or snacks to enjoy by the shore.

Kalalau Trail

For those seeking an unforgettable journey into Kauai’s wild beauty, the Kalalau Trail is an essential experience. This challenging 11-mile trek along the Na Pali Coast leads to the remote and breathtaking Kalalau Beach—accessible only by foot or sea. Due to its rugged terrain and environmental sensitivity, advance permits are required for both hiking and camping overnight. Even day-use access to Hanakapiai Beach and Hanakapiai Falls—located within the first two miles—requires a reservation. Whether you commit to the full trail or opt for a shorter day hike, this destination offers awe-inspiring views, cascading waterfalls, and a connection to nature that’s simply unmatched.

Wailua Falls

Wailua Falls is one of Kaua‘i’s most iconic waterfalls, dropping 173 feet into a dramatic pool below. Easily viewed from a roadside overlook, it offers a striking scene of natural beauty and power. While access to the base is restricted, the viewpoint provides a memorable photo opportunity—especially in the morning light, when mist from the falls often catches a rainbow. Wailua Falls can also be viewed by helicopter, often as part of a breathtaking aerial tour that reveals many of Kaua‘i’s hidden waterfalls and dramatic landscapes.
